AMS are specialists in complex mouldings and provide our customers optimum component solutions.
We are able to supply technical and complex mouldings in a wide range of polymers including over-moulding, twin-shot moulding (two different materials), hot and cold insert moulding and product assembly.
Over moulding enables soft plastic injection moulding over rigid plastic or other components to provide a single component with multi-structural performance.
Most commonly used to provide a two colour moulding, soft touch over harder plastic, improved component strength or rigidity (metallic over moulding).
AMS have developed an innovative technique that allows the over moulding of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB’s) for the automotive sensor market. A TPE polymer is moulded over a PCB with terminal connectors prior to a secondary over-moulding with GFN3 glass filled nylon encapsulation. Tooling is fully automated and provides accurate shut off to the fine terminal pin connectors.
We are able to mould in tool or post moulding a wide range of inserts into plastic components to improved component properties such as wear resistance, strength and conductivity. Most commonly inserted items are bolts, studs, contacts, clips, electrical pins, threaded fasteners, bushings made from materials such as steel, stainless steel, brass and copper.
Our twin shot capability provides many moulded component benefits. The twin shot moulding process allows the production of complex mouldings from two different polymers during a single machine cycle. This enables components to be made with more than one colour or different grades of materials to achieve hard and soft surfaces within a single component. As well as the cost advantages, the process also allows product designers to create complicated mouldings, with a high level of accuracy and repeatability.
Our design team are able to use a huge variety of CAD-CAM software, and use SLS and SLA machines to sculpt models that look and feel like the real thing. All of our machining can use a range of materials from Polypropylene to Thermoplastic Rubber. All of this supplied by a company that is able to offer a high quality comprehensive plastic injection moulding service at ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards.
